I am back today with a new post about how to stay positive! I do get asked quite a lot of the time how I try to keep a positive mind so I decided to write up a blog post about it. Sometimes in this world we live in can be negative world.
For the last couple of years I have had anxiety. So I like to try find time to figure out ways to keep myself positive and to focus on what calms me when my mind goes into overdrive.There are days where I get anxiety and don’t even know why and I get so frustrated with myself and it can get me very down and negative at times. I have some tips that help me get out of my negative mindset.
Find the optimistic viewpoint in a negative situation.
This can be most effective in ways to build up a more positive outlook in my experience been to ask more helpful questions as often as possible.
Whenever I am in a negative mindset ( maybe I have made mistakes), I have failed in some kind of way then I like to ask myself questions like: What is one thing that is positive or good about this situation? What is one opportunity within this situation? I don’t always think of these questions straight away, Sometimes I need to process the thoughts & emotions that arise in situation before I can do that.
Live in a positive environment.
You choose who to spend your time with and the further away you get from the internet and TV will have a huge effect on your outlook. To be able to stay positive it is essential to have influences in your life that support you and lift you up instead of dragging you down. So be careful what you let into your mind.
Exercise regularly and eat and sleep well.
This one is very important! Getting a good night’s sleep can have a big impact on you feeling good or getting in a good workout can relieve any tension in the body and also have you feeling positive. So I highly recommend being careful about these basic habits that may sound boring. Because they do have a huge effect either way depending on how you manage them.
Start your day in a positive way.
How you start your day usually sets the tone for the rest of your day! If you get your mind going to fast in the morning you will start to get lost in future troubles in your mind then you will start to stress, loss of power of over your life, you feel you cant control your own thoughts and negative thoughts will ramp up quickly.
If you on the other hand start your day by moving slowly, by having an some meditation or mindfulness in the morning or you spend some time with reading or listening to inspiring music over breakfast that can make a big difference for how your whole day will go.
Because my anxiety got so bad, I was advised to try meditation and mindfulness. There are so many ways in which you can practice mindfulness and mediation but the one that has worked for me is the app’s which I have downloaded off my App store on my iPhone and they are completely free too, my favorite ones I listen to are Mindshift and Smiling Mind.
Youtube is also very effective as I can listen to almost anything to relax and soothe the mind I sometimes would listen to Enya as it is very calming, I find that my mind can be at its busiest at night, so this is when I need the most help in calming my thoughts.
